According To Research, Here Are The Deadliest Highways In America

Automobile accidents are an unfortunate part of life for many Americans. More than 30,000 people are killed in road crashes in the United States each year.

A new study conducted by fleet management platform Geotab, has created a list ranking the nation’s top 10 most dangerous highways.

Using data collected by the Federal Housing Association and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Geotab used both the number of fatal crashes and the total number of traffic fatalities over the last 10 years to determine the 10 deadliest highways in the country.

The list they created is as follows:

America’s 10 Deadliest Highways (By Number of Traffic Fatalities)

    1. Florida US-1. 1011 fatal crashes, 1079 fatalities.
    2. Tennessee I-40. 437 fatal crashes, 517 fatalities.
    3.  New Mexico I-40. 344 fatal crashes, 395 fatalities.
    4. Alabama I-65. 336 fatal crashes, 389 fatalities.
    5. Texas U.S. 83. 268 fatal crashes, 336 fatalities.
    6. South Carolina I-95. 244 fatal crashes, 301 fatalities.
    7. Louisiana Highway 90. 271 fatal crashes, 295 fatalities.
    8. Arizona I-40. 249 fatal crashes. 293 fatalities.
    9. Washington I-5. 245 fatal crashes, 258 fatalities.
    10. North Carolina I-95. 201 fatal crashes, 240 fatalities.
