A shocking video, showing a police officer and truck driver narrowly escaping an oncoming train, has made its way online this morning.
It happened on Tuesday afternoon, in Atwater, California.
An onlooker began recording after noticing the train approaching a semi truck that was stuck at the railroad crossing.
According to Atwater Police, after initially leaving his vehicle, the truck driver reentered his rig to try to get it off the tracks. However he misjudged how fast the train was moving, and was forced to hop and run for safety moments before the collision.
CHP Officer Jeremy Carbajal can also be seen backing away from the truck as the train approached. When asked about the truck driver’s decision to reenter the truck he said “I think he just didn’t realize how fast the train was moving.”
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.
