Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has announced the beginning of a long project aimed at improving the stretch of Interstate 80 that runs through Venango County, Pennsylvania.
The project was announced on Monday, July 3rd, and it is expected to begin sometime this week.
According to Explore Clarion, the project is scheduled to be completed August 29th, 2018 and will be improving an eight mile stretch of road beginning at the Venengo and Butler County line and ending just after Exit 35.
This project is a part of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s “Road MaP” program- a program aimed at providing a smooth travel experience for citizens across the state of Pennslvania. The program is focusing on rough roads in the northwestern area of the state.
As part of the Road MaP program, Pennsylvania will be investing $500 million in interstate preservation and reconstruction over the next 10 years, as well as $1 billion in roadway maintenance.
I-80 will be resurfaced, milled, and patched. Its bridges will be under rehabilitation work and the drainage system will be updated. Brand new signs, pavement markings, message boards, and pavement loop sensors are also being added.
Motorists can expect lane restrictions and strict traffic control using signs and other traffic devices. PennDOT asks drivers to slow down and be alert in these construction areas.
The $9,767,000 job is being covered by federal funds and is being overseen by contractor Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc.
