
A wrong way motorist forced the closure of I-80 for several hours on Wednesday after crashing head on with an oncoming tractor trailer.
The accident occurred on April 11th at approximately 4:55 a.m. in Hudson, Ohio.
According to the Hiram Ohio State Highway Patrol, motorist Ayaan Mohamed initially entered the Ohio Turnpike in Strongsville, but at some point, she turned around in the middle of the interstate and began traveling the wrong way. Mohamed then collided with an oncoming 2015 Volvo semi truck, mangling her vehicle and trapping her inside.
The unnamed truck driver was not hurt in the incident, but Mohamed had to be extricated from her totaled vehicle. She was then transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries, reported News 5 Cleveland.
The incident is still under investigation, but police believe Mohamed was going around 70 mph at the time of the crash. IT is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
