A semi truck overturned outside of Pensacola on Wednesday morning after it was struck by a motorist traveling in the wrong direction on the highway.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 1st, at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Interstate 10 outside of Pensacola, Florida.
According to police reports, 27-year-old motorist Nichole Peace was driving west on the eastbound side of I-10, when she approached an oncoming semi truck and swerved off the roadway in order to avoid a collision. .
After swerving off the road, she lost control of the vehicle and slid back onto the eastbound lanes, this time striking the semi truck driven by 53-year-old Mario Juan Vasquez.

The force of the impact separated the rear axle from the truck, flipping it onto its side and leaving the front end of Peace’s car completely crushed.
Peace was seriously injured in the accident and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Vasquez was not injured in the crash.
One lane of I-10 near mile marker 3 was shut down for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage. Traffic backups in the areas have been minor.
