A minivan driving the wrong way on the highway collided with a tractor trailer, killing one person, and causing the truck to catch fire.

It happened on Monday, September 19th in Gilliam County, Oregon, at approximately 7:40 p.m.

According to KATU, the 2003 Ford Windstar was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 when it plowed head-on into the tractor trailer, near milepost 137.

The impact knocked the minivan onto the concrete barrier, and caused the semi truck, which was hauling cars, to become fully engulfed in flames.

The driver of the minivan was killed on impact.

The truck driver, 24-year-old Santos Colunga, was treated for minor injuries on scene and then released.

Witnesses told Oregon State troopers that the minivan was traveling at approximately 60 mph when it struck the big rig.

I-84 was completely blocked for several hours while crews cleaned up the mess.

The identity of the motorist killed in the crash has not been released.
