Earlier this week, Freightliner unveiled the Inspiration, the company’s first self-driving semi truck made for American highways. The truck is now road-legal in Nevada, and Freightliner engineer Jim Martin took it for a test spin to demonstrate it’s self driving capabilities.
Overdrive’s Jack Roberts rode alongside Martin and captured some of the ride.

Although the truck can operate autonomously at highway speeds, it still requires a driver for other situations, such as low speeds or bad weather. Freightliner says they have no intentions of creating a truck that would completely eliminate the need for drivers.
