A Trooper’s dash cam caught his serious collision with a semi truck on dash cam recently.
The video was released by the Nebraska State Patrol on Monday, July 16th and has since made national news.
In the clip, the semi truck can be seen crossing the center line, heading straight for the police cruiser and forcing the Trooper Scott to take quick evasive action.
“As you can see, the trooper only has a split second to react to the semi crossing the center line,” wrote the Nebraska State Patrol in a Facebook post.
“His [the trooper’s] defensive driving skills prevented an even more severe crash.”
Trooper Scott was only slightly injured in the crash and was able to return to work three days later but the unnamed trucker wasn’t so lucky. Police say that they believe he may have suffered a medical emergency while driving which is what led to the incident in the first place. The trucker was seriously injured in the crash, but his current health status has not been released.
“We want our troopers to safely make it home to their families after each shift, just like we want all drivers to be safe on the road. Please use caution on Nebraska roads and look out for your fellow drivers,” wrote the Nebraska State Patrol Superintendent.
