Three people were hurt after a tractor trailer rear ended a truck hauling hay, sending the large bales flying off of the overpass and onto the road below.

The incident happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1st on Highway 29 near Thorp, Wisconsin.

According to the Marshfield News-Herald, 57-year-old Albert Brick was driving a flatbed truck with his passenger, 55-year-old John Brick, hauling large hay bales east on Highway 29. As the truck drove across the County Road M overpass, it was rear ended by a semi truck driven by 28-year-old Kyle McNeil.

The force of the impact spun Brick’s flatbed across the road and into the guardrail, where it flipped onto its side, blocking both eastbound lanes.

Several bales of hay then fell from the flatbed and crashed onto County Road M below, striking an 83-year-old pickup driver, Orville Manier.

Manier was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, while John Brick was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition. Albert Brick suffered only minor injuries, and McNeil was not hurt in the crash.

A portion of County Road M and both eastbound lanes of Highway 29 were shut down for several hours as crews worked to clear the debris from the road. They have since been reopened.
