A trucker was robbed at gunpoint while filling out paperwork in a hotel parking lot in California on Tuesday afternoon.
The robbery occurred on December 12th on Reservation Road in Marina, California.
According to police, truck driver Rick Ellis was sitting in his semi truck in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn doing some paperwork when a man in a hoodie jumped over the fence and threatened him with a gun, demanding his wallet.
The man then collected the wallet and ran off, leaving Ellis shaken, but unhurt.
“He pointed the gun at me and then cocked the shell into the chamber and came on over the fence with the gun 3 feet from my face and asked for my wallet,” explained Ellis.
The armed robbery is the sixth in a recent string of robberies that the Marina Police Department believes have all been committed by the same two men.
Police say the men go out alone, but seem to be working together, targeting gas stations and motels as they demand money from their victims while wearing hoodies to try to cover their faces.
“They do brandish a firearm and they do demand property from the victims,” explained Ethan Andrews of the Monterrey police.
Police were able to get a good description of the thief from Ellis and are currently working to arrest the men involved in this case. They are asking anyone with information to please contact the Marina or Monterrey police departments.
