A fight between a truck driver and a longshoreman was caught on camera after the driver complained about long wait times.
It happened on Monday, September 25th at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, California.
According to CBS Local Los Angeles, truck driver Moses Cordova was waiting at the port for several hours, when he began to get upset and confronted the port clerk about the excessive wait time.
“I did say, ‘Hey, why is it taking so damn long to get my canister?” said Cordova.
The remark sparked an argument between the two men, which quickly turned physical.
“As he’s coming towards me, he bumps my chest, and I push him back,” Cordova explained.
The port worker then threw two punches at Cordova. In the video, Cordova can be seen eventually pushing the clerk away and gesturing at someone nearby to call for help.
The police arrived shortly after the incident, but at that time, officers say, neither party wanted to press charges. Now, though, it seems as if Cordova has changed his mind.
“I called 911. I just felt like I didn’t get any justice because there was no arrest,” said Cordova following the incident. He later told reporters he wants to file a report.
“I don’t think it’s right. We are all there for the same purpose – to get our job done,” said another truck driver that witnessed the altercation.
“We have families to support. I do wish we’d start treating each other with more respect,” the witness continued.
“Thing is – we can’t say anything back because we are scared they will retaliate by getting us out of port or threatening to kick us out for life…” the witness added.
A Union president was contacted regarding the incident. He responded by saying that he was aware of the video, but had no comments on the incident.
