Albert is the “face” of Team Run Smart, proving as well as promoting Freightliner’s fuel efficient heavy trucks to the industry, and to the public as well.

Albert believes we are about to pass the 10 mile per gallon threshold in long haul trucking, and the Editor of Overdrive did a run to Texas with him to verify that he’s actually getting 10 mpg in his day to day operations.

So what did he find? Albert is not getting the 10 mpg he claims, he actually got 11 mpg that day. “Pretty impressive,” says the editor, ” considering our GVWR of 62,500 pounds.”

Albert actually gets 12 mpg or better on a good day, but his logs show that he has dropped as low as 9 mpg, with 9.5 being his average since driving this Freightliner.

But there are nay sayers who claim that Albert is using a special aerodynamic truck in order to achieve those numbers.

“Of course I’m using a special truck to achieve these numbers, that’s the whole point here,” says Albert. “But more than that, I’m actually using the truck to the fullest extent of its potential. I’m buying into the concept and making it work.”
