A trucker was discovered dead in his rig at a Flying J on Monday morning, in what’s now being treated as a homicide case.
47-year-old Chuck Oliver’s body was found inside the cab of his semi truck at the Flying J in Davenport, Iowa on January 8th at approximately 11:55 a.m.
According to The Advocate, police were called to the truck stop after a report came in describing an unresponsive man in a truck. When police arrived, they found a deceased Oliver slumped over in his rig with a gunshot wound to the head.
Oliver’s ex-wife, Miranda Lee, the last person to hear from him, told officers that she had last spoken to Oliver on Saturday night, when he told her he was going to have dinner with a fellow trucker. Later that night, Lee says she received a text from Oliver instructing her to call him, but did not return the call until Sunday morning, and Oliver did not answer.
“Sunday night, when nighttime came, it just didn’t seem right,” Lee said.
“Something went wrong after that dinner.”
Oliver, a Denham Springs, Louisiana-resident, was a truck driver for 25 years, and has been described as an excellent father to his 12-year-old son, who he took out on the road with him every summer.
Oliver’s death is currently being investigated by police as a homicide case.
