A trucker was rescued from the inside of his wrecked rig after being trapped for more than an hour on Monday morning.

The accident happened on April 23rd at approximately 9:15 a.m. in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

According to Penn Live News, the semi truck was traveling along Interstate 81 between exits 44 and 45 when it encountered a line of slowed traffic. The semi truck was unable to stop in time and crashed into the back of a flatbed semi truck hauling pipes, flinging the pipes across the roadway, completely destroying the cab of the first semi truck, and trapping the unnamed driver inside.

Firefighters responding to the scene said that the truck driver was alive when he was pulled from the wreckage, but his current condition has not been released.

The northbound lanes of I-81 have been shut down as crews work to clear the debris. They are expected to reopen at around 3:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
