A trucker was threatened with a gun and doused with hot coffee after an altercation with two motorists in an Arizona rest stop.
This incident occurred on Wednesday, August 2nd at the Sunset Point rest stop in Prescott, Arizona, at approximately 4 p.m.
According to KVOA, the truck driver was attempting to park his rig at the rest stop when a BMW sedan driven by 31-year-old Eric Casey cut the truck off, nearly leading to a collision.
The BMW continued on its way and parked nearby.
The semi truck driver then parked his rig, left his wife sitting in the passenger seat, and walked over to the parked BMW and approached Casey to “see if he was OK and warn him about the dangerous maneuver.”
As the truck driver was speaking to Casey, 23-year-old Justice Hunt got out of the BMW’s passenger seat and threw her coffee into the face of the truck driver. Casey then pulled out a handgun and shot one round into the air before he and Hunt got back into the BMW and drove away.
Police were called and a .45 caliber shell casing was found near the place the BMW had been parked. The truck driver was able to record the BMW’s license plate on his rig’s dash cam.
A witness made a statement to officers confirming the truck driver’s story and the trucker’s wife managed to capture footage of the confrontation on her phone while sitting in the cab of the truck.
Troopers from the Department of Public Safety later stopped the two suspects in a mall parking lot in Anthem.
Troopers found the handgun in the car and Casey admitted to firing the shot because he “felt threatened” by the truck driver. Hunt also admitted to throwing her coffee at the victim “because he refused to leave.”
Casey was arrested for disorderly conduct with a weapon, threatening, and endangerment. Hunt was arrested for disorderly conduct. Both suspects were taken to the Camp Verde Detention Center.
The identity of the truck driver has not been released.
