A truck driver was arrested this week after allegedly attempting to run over two men at a truck stop.
It happened at the Flying J truck stop in Missoula, Montana on Tuesday, June 27th.
According to The Missoulian, Michael Allen McLane was in his rig at the Flying J truck stop when the manager noticed the truck was spilling fluids. When asked to turn off the truck, McLane complied and exited the vehicle. As he climbed out, employees noticed that McLane seemed to be intoxicated.
Shortly afterward, McLane reentered the truck, causing employees to call the police department. Upon hearing law enforcement had been called, McLane reportedly began driving his semi truck towards the men until an employee blocked his path with his personal pickup truck.
Officers arrived and administered a field sobriety test. McLane did not pass, and showed a blood alcohol content of .237, nearly six times the legal limit for commercial drivers in Montana.
Troopers also say that McLane’s eyes were bloodshot, his speech was slurred, and he was not able to walk normally.
Although McLane denied attempting to hit anybody with his tractor trailer, he did admit to drinking four beers earlier that day, claiming he was “not going to drive.”
McLane has been charged with two felony counts of criminal endangerment, as well as a misdemeanor for aggravated driving under the influence.
His bail was set at $20,000. If he is released, McLane will be monitored for alcohol use.
