A truck driver suffered serious injuries in an accident involving two tractor trailers and a passenger vehicle on Thursday morning.

The accident happened on westbound Interstate 10 in Tucson, Arizona near the Avra Valley Road exit at mile marker 242.

According to Tuscon News Now, the fire department received a call about the accident at around 4:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they discovered one of the truck drivers trapped inside his severely damaged cab, and went to work extricating the unidentified trucker.

The trapped trucker sustained major injuries in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation and no citations have been issued. The identities of the drivers involved have not been released.

A portion of westbound I-10 was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage, but has since been reopened.
