Truck driver Arielle Stokes recently shared this public Facebook post, describing an encounter at a truck stop in Nebraska.
It’s definitely worth a read.
I had to pull the truck over for this one. This morning I had the pleasure of eating a hot breakfast at the Bosselman Travel Plaza in Grand Island, Nebraska. They sat in front of me and kept looking at me funny.
Anyway, they kept arguing back and forth about how they aren’t satisfied about the miles that they get and how much they get paid.
They both was talking about how they both just got paid and they down to their last $20. The two were a team. (Trainer and Trainee)
Fortunately and obviously, they drive for SWIFT!
I used to drive for Swift so I know as a company driver they only get paid chump change. So they leave and keep looking at me. Ine even gonna lie. I’m ready to get up and beat that ass. I leave like 2 minutes after that.
I was about to pay for my food and the server said it was already paid for. So I’m like I didn’t pay for it. She said the two dudes that sat in front of me paid for my meal. She said they knew me from a truck driving Facebook group and wanted to show me a little appreciation. I’m only in one truck driving group. She even said that he only ate side items because he couldn’t afford a complete meal considering my meal was like $13 and all he had was $20. It hit me HARD!
The last time anybody ever did something equivalent to this was back in 2011 when I came home from Iraq and someone in the airport paid for meal as they thanked me for my service. When you have SWIFT DRIVERS who barely make enough to survive give up their last, that demonstrates SELFLESS SERVICE and I ENCOURAGE that amongst other people.
From this day forward, NO MORE SWIFT JOKES. Now I’m starting to take it personal!! I know these two individuals are in the group and they 👀. Come forward! All I wanna do is return the favor and if you choose not to come forward, May God Bless Y’all Soul and if it’s anything that you need I SWEAR TO GOD THAT YOU GOT IT!! From this day forward, im going to bless others as well.
You never know a persons situation. And if you wanna laugh cause I’m emotional, then I don’t need you in my circle!
NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU COME FROM!!!
