A truck driver was injured after losing control of her rig while trying to avoid an unlicensed motorist that swerved in her lane.

The incident happened last Thursday, in Greene County, Tennessee.

According to police reports, motorist Cornelio Murillo Ortiz was driving erratically on northbound Interstate 81 and swerved into the lane of a tractor trailer driven by trucker Julia Richardson.

Richardson veered sharply left to avoid the car, but was unable to avoid contact. After impact, Richardson lost control and swerved into oncoming northbound traffic. The rig finally came to a stop after crash landing in a ditch on the highway shoulder.

The truck driver, Julia Richardson, was injured in the crash. 3 people were also injured in Ortiz’s vehicle, including a 1 year old child. At the least 1 person was airlifted to a hospital.

Ortiz was found to have a bag containing a small amount of suspected marijuana on the passenger side floorboard. According to The Greenville Sun, Ortiz did not have a valid license.

A red yeast liquid was spilled from the tractor trailer and crews spent 4 hours cleaning the roadway.

As of this morning, the health conditions of those involved in the accident were unavailable.

Ortiz was charged with possession of a Schedule VI drug and driving on a revoked license-6th offense.
