YouTuber TruckMafk recently uploaded this dash cam video showing a truck driver nearly sideswiping a pick up truck that got in his way. TruckMafk blamed Electronic logs and increased regulations for turning once-courteous drivers into mad men always trying to beat the clock.
The video’s description says the following:
I’m not making excuses for this dangerous idiotic behaviour. But this is pretty much the future of the industry the way things are going. Drivers keep getting more and more restricted by the amount of time we can drive and the speed the truck can go. We used to use paper logs and lie about when we drove so we can take our time and drive as much as we wanted. but now with Electronic logs, speed governors, and tighter restrictions on when we can drive, it becomes a race against the clock. The quality of drivers out here has really diminished because it seems like there is no time to be patient and courteous and people just take more chances.
