A car driver captured this footage of what he calls an “insane big rig road-rage” incident.
On June 15th, he uploaded the video on YouTube. Reportedly, the driver was later fired based on the evidence shown in this footage.
The Youtuber described the incident that he captured on camera:
“The right lane was ending ahead, but this trucker was determined to make sure that nobody could safely and legally get in front of him. Rather than properly treating it as a zipper merge, he drove down the middle of the road and actually attempted to run another driver off the road when he tried to pass. He later let the SUV get up next to the cab, then leaned out the window to scream at him and flip him off. The SUV driver did nothing wrong, and this semi driver has no business in such a deadly large vehicle with these anger issues.”
He furthered his post with this side-note:
“NOTE: Please do not direct any anger at Cowan Systems for this one driver’s actions. I am forwarding them this video so that they can deal with him how they wish. This is one driver’s wrongdoing, not the whole company’s.”
As a result of his video, he informed his viewers:
“UPDATE: Apparently the driver has been let go as a result of this incident. Cowan Systems is a very safety-conscious company and decided that this driver was far too big of a danger on the road to represent them. I do not know if he has had any prior incidents that led up to this decision or if it was only this one, but he luckily will not be in a position to endanger other motorists like this any time soon. (Again, if you have any issues with this video or the decision to terminate the employee, please do not direct your anger at Cowan. They were a pleasure to talk to and evidently a very friendly and safe company. Their policies regarding safety may appear strict to some, but if they help to prevent just one accident, then they are well worth having. If you disagree, please take it up with me instead of them. I do not wish for this to have any negative effects on such an admirable company.)”
The video has caused controversy among YouTube viewers.
Some viewers agree with the actions of the trucking company:
“He Lost it, his company did the right thing to let him go, and trucking is not for everyone, if you have a short fuse, stay out of trucking.”

Others see it the other way around:
“I love when truckers do this. They’re trying to prevent a freaking mile long traffic backup from all the asshole yuppies who wait until the last minute and then try to get over into the left lane and cause gridlock b/c they’re too important to wait in line like everyone else. NOTE, the people who do this are ALWAYS driving expensive SUV’s, Caddi’s, BMW’s, Mercedes……….. you know, cars the Type A personality assholes like to drive.”

Another offered some advice:
“ok , if he’s turning left he has to wide angle turn and 4 wheelers think they own the road. Yes the trucker was wrong to cut in front of him, but the car was wrong for trying to over take the shoulder… Be patient is the lesson here and don’t act like your time is more important then a trucker AND FYI to cut off the truck is not LEGALLY PASSING HIM.. Learn your DOT Regulations & Rules of the road”

If nothing else, this incident is a reality-check to the fact that someone could be watching (and also filming) you at any given time.
