
A semi truck dragged a portion of its roof for around five miles after striking a low overpass in Philadelphia on Monday.
The accident happened on March 5th at approximately 10:00 p.m. in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
According to ABC 6 News, the truck driver was traveling through the 12th Street and Callowhill Street intersection when he struck a low hanging overpass, stripping most of the roof and the back door off of the big rig. The trucker then continued driving for around five miles, dragging the 50 foot pieces of trailer roof and door behind him and waking up dozens of people with the noise.
Truck enforcement officers finally stopped the driver at 21st Street and Point Breeze Avenue, but the unnamed driver has not received any citations. It is not yet clear whether the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Police are still working to investigate the incident and to determine how much damage was caused to cars parked along the roadway, as well as other property.
