A truck driver was arrested for taking apart and selling a company semi truck after a dispute with his employer.
He was arrested in New Market, Tennessee and brought to Jefferson County Jail on Tuesday, July 11th.
According to The Standard Banner, 27-year-old Rusty W. Davis got into an argument with his boss at Fort Worth, Texas-based Pro Resources LLC back in May. After the disagreement, Davis brought the semi truck to New Market, Tennessee, where the truck was disassembled and sold for parts to different dealers in the area.
The gutted 2012 Peterbilt truck was found at a repair shop in Tennessee. VIN numbers were used to determine that it was the same vehicle.
“The truck had been sold to a shop that had no idea it was stolen,” said New Market Police Chief Raymond Raper.
The transmission and engine had been sold somewhere in Grainger County, but only the transmission has been recovered.
“The engine had been sold again. We’re still working on the investigation,” added Raper.
The total value of the truck and grain trailer was around $200,000 according to New Market officers.
Davis was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property, and theft over $60,000. He also faces possible charges for transporting stolen goods over state lines.
