A truck driver was run over by his own semi truck while detaching his trailer in Virginia on Thursday.

The accident happened at around 10:17 a.m. in Roanoke, Virginia on April 5th.

Roanoke Police say that they initially received a call reporting a body lying in the street and that when officers arrived, they discovered the body lying near a parked tractor trailer on the 200 block of Glade View Drive Northeast.

Upon investigation of the scene, police determined that the truck driver had exited his cab to detach the trailer from the truck but had left the rig in neutral, allowing it to roll and crush him as he worked at removing the trailer, reported WDBJ News.

The name of the man killed in the accident has not yet been released as Roanoke police, Roanoke Fatality Investigators, Roanoke Forensic Investigators, and Virginia State Police continue to investigate the incident.
