A truck driver was cited after trying to fit his 13-foot 6-inch tractor trailer underneath an 11-foot 6-inch bridge in Pennsylvania yesterday.

It happened in Upper Macungie Township in Pennsylvania on Schantz Road at approximately 1:40 p.m.

According to The Morning Call, 48-year-old Rifet Jasarevic was driving his tractor trailer east on Schantz Road when he came upon the Norfolk Southern railroad bridge. The bridge was labeled with the restricted height of 11”6’.

Jasarevic claims that, though he saw the clearly marked signs, he called a coworker, who assured him that he would fit underneath the bridge.

Jasarevic decided to attempt to clear the bridge, which was 2 feet too short and was unable to pass under it.

The roof of both the truck and trailer were seriously damaged.

Neither Jasarevic nor his passenger, 42-year-old Senada Jasarevic, was injured in the accident.

“Jasarevic also mentioned that he was following the directions of his GPS,” said local officer Robert Djevharian.

The bridge seemed to be unharmed, but local authorities were notified of the potential damages.

The tractor trailer had to be towed away from the scene, and Jasarevic was ticketed for ignoring the height restriction.
