A truck driver says he “lost his cool” after being arrested for smashing a motorist’s window with a baseball bat.

The incident occurred on Thursday, July 27th in Tallahassee, Florida on Thomasville Road.

According to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, a Mercedes van and a tractor trailer got in a minor wreck on Thomasville road near Timberwolf crossing around 11 a.m. Police were called and were traveling to the wreck location when they received another call that a fight had broken out between the two drivers.

When police arrived, the fight had subsided but the Mercedes driver told officials that the two had gotten in an accident and pulled over. The truck driver allegedly got out of his truck wielding a baseball bat and smashed the driver’s side window, then proceeded to attack the Mercedes driver.

A witness says that he saw the truck driver, 57-year-old Samuel Youngblood, reach into the Mercedes to grab the driver, but that he eventually backed off.

Youngblood admitted to police that he “lost his cool,” during the confrontation, but says that the road rage incident was started by the driver of the Mercedes.

Police arrested Youngblood and charged him with criminal mischief with damage to property, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

He was let out on bond on Friday afternoon.
