A tractor trailer was involved in a 9 vehicle accident in Michigan on Sunday afternoon, leaving 2 dead and 1 injured.

It happened south of Brighton, Michigan, around 1:20 pm on US-23 Southbound.

According to WJXQ local news, a semi truck was entering a construction zone when it lost control and was unable to slow down, causing the truck to crash into several vehicles and eventually come to a stop on top of a Ford Sedan.

The driver of the Ford and the driver of a Chevy sonic also involved in the crash died at the scene. A second passenger of the Ford was extricated from the vehicle and flown to the University of Michigan Hospital in critical condition.

The 62-year-old truck driver, whose name has not been released, was arrested and taken to Livingston County Jail. He was charged with committing a moving violation that caused the death of another person.

US 23 Southbound was closed for seven hours, but reopened around 8 pm on Sunday night.
