A truck driver admitted to police that he was eating behind the wheel when he crashed into a guardrail in California on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at approximately 3:15 a.m. near Bakersfield, California.

The California Highway Patrol says that the truck driver was traveling on Southbound Highway 99 near 7th Standard Road when his attention turned to his meal, causing the semi truck to leave its lane and drift into a guardrail, where it overturned near the center divider.

The truck driver was not hurt in the accident and no other vehicles were involved, reported Turn to 23 News.

The semi truck was hauling 75,000 pounds of cheese at the time of the accident. The accident has since been cleared.

It is not yet clear what citations, if any, have been issued.
