A truck driver admitted to police he had been drinking prior to flipping his semi truck in San Antonio late Monday evening.

The accident happened on April 23rd at approximately 11:55 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas.

The San Antonio Police Department says that truck driver David Earl Buskirk was traveling south on Highway 281 near the Josephine exit when he took a curve too fast, causing the semi truck to overturn and skid over 40 feet before coming to a rest in the middle of the highway.

No injuries were sustained in the incident, but police discovered several open containers of alcohol inside the rig at the time of the accident. Buskirk then admitted to officers that he had been drinking just before the crash occurred, reported Fox San Antonio.

The semi truck was hauling 4 wheeler frames at the time of the incident, forcing the closure of Highway 281 to allow crews to unload the heavy frames and tow the wrecked big rig. The highway was reopened at around 4:30 a.m.

Buskirk has been charged with driving while intoxicated- open container. He was taken into custody on a $1,000 bond.
