Traffic was slow for hours on Interstate 40 Wednesday morning after a crash involving 2 semi trucks caught fire.

It happened on October 18th at approximately 5:00 a.m. in Dickson County, Tennessee.

According to Fox 17 Nashville, a semi truck was traveling west on Interstate 40 when it struck another semi truck. The first semi truck overturned and caught fire, while the second one came to a stop a short distance away and then also caught fire.

Both truck drivers were injured in the incident, but the extent of their injuries are not known.

The first semi truck was hauling pharmaceuticals.

Crews spent hours quenching the fires and clearing the debris from the road.

Westbound I-40 traffic was reduced to one lane, causing major delays on the west side, and rubbernecking delays on the east side.

I-40 west is expected to be fully reopened by 11 a.m., but motorists should expect slowdowns for the next couple hours.
