Police say someone stole a truck, then hooked up to a trailer full of popular Christmas toys, and drove away from a distribution center in Fife, Washington last week.

According to Q13 Fox, the Freightliner tractor and a separate container trailer full of “Rock Tumblers” and “Laser X” toy guns was parked at the distribution center when both suddenly disappeared around noon on November 29th.

“We believe the person that stole that tractor hooked up to the trailer full of toys and just drove away with it in broad daylight,” said Fife Police Sgt. Tom Thompson.

“It’s probably more than a crime of opportunity,” said Thompson, pointing out that the “Laser X” toys seem to be one of the more popular toys of this holiday season.

“It seems to be like somebody knew that was in that trailer.”

The stolen tractor is a white 2002 Freightliner with Washington plates reading C17569G. The trailer, a red Triton shipping container, has Tennessee plates reading U479975.

“Our guess is they’re [the toys] probably going to be quite a substantial discount and so we’re hoping that folks can, if they see that or happen to notice these things on sale, that they’d be willing to give us a call,” Thompson continued.

Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County is offering a cash reward of $1000 to anyone providing a tip that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call 1-800-222-8477 or submit the information online at the Crime Stoppers website.
