A semi truck plunged off an overpass in Texas on Thursday, landing on top of a car below.
The accident occurred on January 11th at approximately 1:30 p.m. in Sugar Land, Texas.
Police say the tractor trailer was traveling along the southbound 59 Southwest Freeway when it swerved to avoid a previous accident, sending the rig flipping over the guardrail and onto a car in the roadway below.
Miraculously, the motorist was able to crawl out of the window of the car on her own. Both the truck driver and the motorist were then transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. Neither driver has been identified, reported KHOU.
Officers responding to the scene said that the motorist was lucky that the trailer was empty, other wise the car would have been completely crushed.
The intersection of University Boulevard and the southbound feeder road was closed while crews worked to clear the debris.
