
A head on collision between two semi trucks left one tractor wedged inside the trailer of the other, seriously damaging both big rigs.
The accident happened at around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning near Chester, Illinois.
According to KMOV News, two semi trucks were traveling in opposite directions on Highway 51 near the Chester Bridge when, for reasons that are not yet known, the two big rigs collided head on, sending the tanker ripping through the trailer of the other rig, coming to a rest with the cab wedged inside the trailer.
Both of the tractor trailers were seriously damaged in the wreck. One entrapment and one injury were reported as a result of the crash, but as of 12:00 p.m., the severity of that injury was not known.
A portion of Highway 51 near the Chester Bridge has been shut down for an indefinite amount of time as crews work to clear the debris and investigate the incident. There is no estimated time of reopening.
