I’ve seen some major blow outs but this one rates near the top. I just wonder if this couldn’t have been avoided with the proper training. I my own experience, hitting your brakes when a front wheel blows out is the wrong thing to do.
What the driver should do is to hit the accelerator instead. Increasing the speed slightly will let the driver regain control of the vehicle and then allow them to slow down gradually until they come to safe stop.
However I have to give the driver a lot of credit for keeping the truck upright, it could have been luck, but I think there was some skill involved as well.
The truck did get very close to turning over, and I think a quick turn of the steering wheel by the driver may have avoided that.
It was bad that he lost most of his load, but the good think is that it doesn’t look like anybody was involved. So in the end I guess all is well that ends well. Stay Safe.
