Three truck drivers are dead after one semi truck crossed the median, crashing into a second semi truck head on.

The accident happened on Tuesday, April 24th at approximately 3:20 p.m. in Lonoke County, Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police say that 64-year-old Jerry Stice was traveling east on Interstate 40 near mile marker 193 when, for unknown reasons, the big rig crossed the median, crossed a wire safety barrier, went airborne, and crashed head on into a FedEx truck heading westbound.

Stice, as well as the driver of the FedEx truck, 47-year-old Jesus Escareno and his co-driver, 55-year-old Mark Lynch were all killed in the crash, reported Arkansas Online News.

The westbound lanes of I-40, as well as one eastbound lane, were shut down for approximately seven hours as crews worked to clear the wreck and investigate the initial cause of the incident. Traffic was diverted to Highway 70 at mile marker 193 until the roadway was reopened at around 10:30 p.m.
