The lack of adequate parking is one of the biggest problems the trucking industry has faced in recent years.
There have been countless tragedies involving truckers who were forced to park in dangerous and secluded areas. One recent example, was 72-year-old Lloyd Jerry Matson, who was shot and robbed when he was forced to park in a secluded area in Oakland, California, after being denied parking in the O. Co Coliseum.
But it’s not just truck drivers that suffer because of the lack of a truck parking. Just last month, two people died after crashing into the back of a semi truck which was parked on an off-ramp because there was no available parking nearby.
And it’s only getting worse. On Feb. 19th, Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy announced plans to close one of the states busiest rest stops for truck drivers.
This short video, produced by Texomatic Pictures for the Truckers Had Enough E- Magazine, perfectly sums up the situation.
Check it out, then pass it on — because it’s impossible to fix the problem without the public realizing there is one.
