According to a Trucker Path App survey, the Busy Bee on US 129 in Live Oak, Florida was voted the best truck stop in the nation.
Suwannee Democrat reported that the survey covered over 71,000 ratings of 3,500 truck stops across the United States. The goal was to locate the best truck stops and to find out which states had the best locations.
This Busy Bee was voted “the best of the best.”
Voted second best was the Tullo Truck Stop in Kearny, New Jersey.
Trucker Path determined that truck drivers desire that their truck stops have lots of parking space, clean bathrooms, laundry rooms and showers. Truck stop reviewers also spoke highly about stops with a variety of restaurant choices.
North Carolina trucker, James Hall, loves any opportunity he gets to stop at the Busy Bee and highly recommends it to drivers.
The truck stops’ general manager, Chad Hubret, explained that while there are other Busy Bee locations, the Live Oak stop is the chain’s flagship.
Hubret was a slightly surprised by the survey results:
“We do a really good job here. We get compliments and we know we’re good, but we didn’t know we were the best.”
Truckers have even told Hubret that their visit to the truck stop makes them feel like they are in a five-star hotel.
Their restrooms are first class.
And their selection of gourmet jerky is out-of-this world.
Their homemade fudge provides pick-me-up snacks.
One reviewer posted this review on Trip Advisor:
“Biggest and cleanest Busy Bee I’ve ever been in. We stopped here on our way up to the Florida Caverns and again on the return trip. This place is huge with a Dunkin’ Donuts and Burger King inside. They have the nicest bathrooms I have probably ever seen. They also make their own fudge (totally random – I know!) and it is really good. They even have a candy section and offer homemade jerky. It was a very surreal experience for a gas station stop. I recommend you check it out if you are in the area.”
Hubret commented on their plan to expand the chain:
“We are planning on building more shops this size. We just don’t know when or where just yet.”
If you haven’t yet, make a visit to the country’s best truck stop. It’ll be worth the trip.
