The Boise Stage Shop in Boise, Idaho, is continuing their tradition of providing free meals to truck drivers for the holiday season.

The Independent truck stop, located off Interstate 84, has been serving free meals to truck drivers on Thanksgiving and Christmas for the last 10 years, in order to show their appreciation.

Samantha McDonald, a representative for the Boise Stage Stop, commented on the tradition, “They move the food we eat, the furniture we sleep on, the clothes we wear, the toys we play with. They’re the ones that are moving it from Point A to Point B and bringing it from the manufacturer to the store, and they’re really the ones that are responsible for keeping the holidays moving and they don’t really get the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the busiest times for things to be moving, which means those truckers are out there working.”

The Thanksgiving meal includes turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and more. Anyone with a valid CDL will be able to receive a free meal.

“We appreciate what you’re doing, and if you’re in the area, come eat with us because we want to say thank you and treat you to a lovely dinner.” McDonald added.

The truck stop posted this announcement on their Facebook page on November 1st

Boise Stage Stop to host FREE dinner for professional drivers on Thanksgiving Day!

Each year on Thanksgiving Day the Boise Stage Stop offers a free turkey dinner with all of the trimmings to professional truck drivers as a “Thank you” for the hard work and long hours they spend on the road keeping our country functioning.

Truck drivers are the backbone of commerce in the United States, and in order to keep the stores stocked many of them sacrifice things that we take for granted – a warm bed every night, watching their kids grow up, a regular daily routine, and holidays with their families.

That’s why the Boise Stage Stop hosts Driver Appreciation Day on Thanksgiving Day annually – so that even though the drivers may not be able to make it home for the holiday, they will still be treated to a savory, home-style meal to fill their bellies. In addition to the FREE dinner, all professional drivers will also be eligible to win great prizes just for coming!

This event is always a great time with the free dinner, prizes and camaraderie of the truckers that come together to celebrate the holiday together. To receive your free dinner simply show your CDL to a server!
