Citizens of New York were stunned on Wednesday when they noticed something very peculiar. Excited residents rushed to take pictures of the phenomenon.
Onlookers thought they must be hallucinating when they saw a giant 6-ton potato traveling down the Hudson River.
The massive spud was spotted on top of a tractor trailer on a barge pulled by a tugboat.
The truck is emblazoned with a sign that reads “It’s Real.”
But rest be assured, giant produce isn’t taking over the world. It’s actually 12,130 pounds of steel, plywood, concrete and foam. But if it were real, Big Idaho Potato says it would take over 10,000 years to grow, and would equal 32,346 average potatoes put together.
Watch how it was made below.
According to NBC New York, the potato has been traveling across the country since 2012, which marked the 75th anniversary of the Idaho Potato Commission.
It now travels state to state with “The Famous Idaho Potato Tour.”
As the truck travels to festivals, colleges and towns, its mission is to help with charities.
It also serves to promote “the certified heart-healthy Idaho Potato.”
People just can’t seem to get enough of the spectacular spud. Keep an eye out…it might be coming to your town soon. Although, it would be pretty hard to miss this one.
