As a trucker, for the most part, we spend our lives on the road.  Truck stops provide a place to eat, relax, shower, and revitalize.  Many truck stops are less than amazing, but there are some great ones out there.  Here’s a list of some of the best truck stops in the U.S.:

Iowa 80 in Wolcott.

The Iowa 80 is one of the largest truck stops in the U.S. with over 800 parking spaces.  Their truck wash offers hand washes and their 300+ seat restaurant includes a 50 foot salad bar.  Many claim Iowa 80 to be their favorite truck stop out there.

Alamo Plaza in Sparks, Nevada.

The Alamo Plaza in Nevada has all the traditional features that you might expect from a truck stop.  What sets them apart is their full casino with over two hundred slot machines and various gaming tables.

Rip Griffin Travel Center in New Braunsfels, Texas

After parking your rig you’ll be picked up in style by a limo and taken to the center.  At the center you can enjoy all the usual amenities you can expect from a good truck stop, plus some extras.  One of their famous features in the 1942 Farmall tractor that has been transformed into a meat smoker, and according to many it produces the best barbecue in all of Texas.

 Jubbitz Travel Plaza in Portland, Oregon.

The  Jubbitz Travel Plaza in Portland allows truckers to get some rest and relaxation in style.  Each hotel room includes Jacuzzi tubs and the inside the plaza is an upscale restaurant owned and operated by Horst Mager, world renown German chef.

 Derrick Plaza Truck Stop in Salisbury, North Carolina.

This location caters to the spiritual truck driver with its on-site chapel and religious broadcasts on CB Channel 12.  Electrification units allow truck drivers to turn off engines and still run electrical equipment, such as computers, televisions and heat/air conditioning without emitting toxic exhaust fumes.

Highland Petro Shop in Racine, Wisconsin.

The Highland Petro Shop in Racine, Wi. has an on-site chiropractor that offers spine alignment to drivers for just $25, and is also qualified to perform physicals for Department of Transportation usage.

Lodi Travel Center in Seville, Ohio.

This truck stop was one of the first to offer Starbucks coffee, and also includes an internet lounge.  It’s sometime referred to as the “Yuppie” truck stop.

Daisy Dukes Cafe  in Greenville, Tennessee

The Daisy Dukes Cafe is a favorite stop for truckers that offers great food served by their popular waitresses, the daisy dukes girls. One of our readers even adds that they have some of the best steak burgers he’s ever tried!  Check them out on  ext 30 on I-81 Greenville.
