The Nebraska State Patrol held a surprise commercial vehicle inspection event on May 16th and took an incredible 41% of the trucks inspected off the road.

The inspection blitz happened all day Tuesday in Lincoln, Nebraska.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, the Nebraska State Patrol discovered a whopping 336 violations in an inspection of just 100 trucks. 41 vehicles in total were taken off the road.

This inspection sweep was aimed at CMVs that may not regularly drive through weigh stations.

The vehicles taken off the road were found to have a variety of safety issues such as bad tires, brakes, or any other problems that require immediate attention.

Five drivers were also taken off the road for offenses such as driving with a suspended license, lack of commercial driver’s license, or lack of a driver’s license of any kind.

$7,350 worth of fines were issued during the operation.

This was the first surprise inspection operation held in the state this year, however the Nebraska State Patrol has warned of additional unannounced inspection sprees in the months to come.
