A stretch of Interstate 20 was shut down on Wednesday afternoon after a tractor trailer struck a guardrail in the westbound lanes.

It happened on August 2nd in Bossier City, Louisiana near Airline Drive at approximately 11:30 a.m.

According to KSLA, a tractor trailer was driving west on I-20 when it hit a guardrail, and went partially into a ditch.

The force of the impact ruptured the trucks fuel tank and spilled diesel on the highway.

No injuries were reported in the accident. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. The condition of the driver, and any possible injuries, are not currently known.

As of 11:59 a.m. the westbound lanes on I-20 were closed at Airline Drive while crews cleaned up the mess.

Drivers are urged to use Interstate 220 as an alternate route.
