A truck driver was killed Monday evening after colliding head-on with a cow standing in the road.
The accident happened on October 22nd at around 9:45 p.m. in Douglas County, Oregon.
According to Fox 12 Oregon, the unnamed driver was driving his 2012 Kenworth hauling double fuel tanks along Highway 38 near milepost 21 when he struck a cow standing in the road, causing him to lose control of the rig, which left the roadway and struck a power pole.
The driver and cow were both found dead on scene.
Some of the 7,500 gallons of gasoline and 2,500 gallons of diesel fuel being hauled by the big rig were spilled in the wreck, prompting a Hazmat response. Cleanup efforts lasted into Tuesday afternoon, shutting down a portion of Highway 38 near mile marker 21.
