All southbound lanes of Interstate 43 are closed in Grafton, Wisconsin Tuesday after an accident involving a semi truck and a van with a camper.

The accident happened on November 7th at approximately 1:17 p.m. on I-43, just south of Highway 60.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, a semi truck hauling hauling paper was traveling south on I-43 when it “failed to slow for traffic.” The semi truck then rear ended a camper being pulled by a van before jackknifing into the median.

The wreck completely destroyed the camper and caused diesel fuel to leak from the tractor trailer.

3 people were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Their identities have not been released, reported Fox 6 Now.

As of 3:40 p.m., I-43 south is expected to be closed for at least 4 hours as emergency crews clean up the debris from the incident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
