A Montana police officer’s patrol vehicle was damaged on Interstate 90 on Saturday morning, after a collision with a tractor trailer.

The accident occurred on the morning of December 30th in Bozeman, Montana.

According to Gallatin County Sheriff’s deputy Randy Schott, he and several other officers were responding to a wreck along the Bozeman pass on Interstate 90. Schott was outside of his police cruiser, which was stopped on the side of the highway, when it was struck by the tractor trailer.

Miraculously, no one was injured in the incident.

“I heard one of the fire department crew members yell that we were gonna get hit,” explained Schott to NBC Montana.

“We had a deputy and, I believe, two fire units that were behind me trying to slow people down and push them over to the passing lane away from us… It’s frustrating that people aren’t slowing down. We’re in the middle of winter, and by now people should realize they have to slow down,” he continued.

The identity of the truck driver has not been released and it is not clear if any citations have been issued. The Sheriff’s office says Schott’s patrol car is a total loss.

“It was definitely the best outcome for the situation,” Schott says.

“Being a little bit stiff and sore isn’t so bad considering what could have happened.”

The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office hopes that this close call will serve as a reminder to motorists and all other drivers to move over for sirens and lights.
