A semi truck was left hanging off of an overpass in California on Tuesday morning after swerving to avoid a pickup truck.

The accident happened on December 5th at approximately 5:45 a.m. in Stockton, California.

According to Fox 40, a semi truck was traveling north on Interstate 5 near the Pershing Avenue exit when a pickup truck apparently tried to merge into its lane. The semi truck then swerved to avoid a collision with the pickup and went crashing through the concrete guard rail, leaving the cab hanging off the side of the overpass.

The driver, who has not been identified, was able to escape the wrecked semi truck on his own with only minor injuries. No one else was hurt in the crash.

3 lanes of I-5 north were shut down as crews worked to clear the debris and retrieve the truck from the side of the overpass. As of 12:30 p.m. the lanes remained closed.
