A semi truck went plummeting over the side of a canyon in Utah recently, killing the driver and destroying the trailer.

The accident is thought to have occurred on Saturday evening, September 15th but was not reported until around 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, September 16th in Emery County, Utah.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Interstate 70 at mile marker 118 in Eagle Canyon.

“The semi truck appeared to go over a concrete barrier some time during the prior evening and fall approximately 200 feet into the bottom of the canyon,” officers wrote in a press release.

The truck driver has been identified as Thomas B. Bowler of Bunkerville, Nevada and was already deceased by the time emergency officials arrived, reported Gephardt Daily News.

The reason for the crash is still under investigation.
