Six tractor trailers and six passenger vehicles were involved in a large pileup on a snowy Interstate 94 on Thursday morning.

The accident happened on December 28th at approximately 9:55 a.m. near Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

According to WQOW News, an initial collision between two tractor trailers occurred on the Chippewa River Bridge, causing a closure of westbound I-94.

The closure backed up traffic, which resulted in a follow-up wreck caused by vehicles that were unable to stop in time. The chain reaction pileup involved an additional four tractor trailers and six passenger vehicles.

In total, 12 vehicles were involved in the pileup and 4 people were transported to a nearby hospital. They all sustained only minor injuries, but their identities have not been released.

I-94 at mile marker 65 was closed for six and a half hours as crews worked to clear the debris. The roadway has since been reopened.
