What do you do when a single semi trailer just isn’t enough? Just slap on another. And another. Until you have a chain of trailers being pulled by one tractor, known in some parts of the world as a Road Train.

In the U.S. trucks are primarily restricted to using no more than two trailers, although a few states with less populated roadways allow three.

However, in Australia, road trains become mammoth moving machines made of steel and rubber. With some of the largest road legal trucks in the world, road trains in Australia can weigh up to 200 tons, sometimes pulling six or more trailers. The largest of which are known as power trains.

In February 2006, an Australian set the record for the longest road train ever driven. 70 year old John Atkinson drove a tri-drive Mack Titan weighing over 1433 tons that was 4,800 feet long and consisted of 112 trailers.

Yep, you read it right 112 trailers on that bad boy. To be fair, Atkinson only drove a distance of 490 feet as the event was held for charity, nonetheless, it’s an amazing sight to see.

Think you got what it takes to maneuver one of these monsters? If you love big trucks like we do (and heck it doesn’t get any bigger than this) make sure to share this with your trucking buddies below.
