This is a good idea for newbies who are thinking of hitting the road. A trucking simulator called EVOC allows people to get a taste of what it’s like behind a truck and what kind of skills go into driving one.
Running the simulation is John Wood, or “Woody”. He’s a retired truck driver with over 3 million miles under his belt. With the EVOC he can put kids in the many trucking situations he has probably experienced in his 25 years of trucking all with a control console.
From their he can control the weather, what’s happening in the area, he can control if a truck tire blows out or if there’s a fuel leak. They have well over 60 scenarios.
It’s a better way of learning than simply watching some “tutorial” videos on YouTube and a hell of a lot safer than starting out in the real thing.
It may not be a carbon copy of how it really feels to be a trucker on the road but at least you wont break any limbs when you get in a crash.
